LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

The lymphatic system plays a vital role in the body by regulating the immune system, which fights infection and eliminates foreign substances and bacteria from the body. To function efficiently, the lymphatic system requires the free flow of lymph in a specific direction through a complex system of lymphatic capillaries, vessels, and nodes. Lymphatic drainage massage therapy combines gentle pressure with soft pumping movements in the direction of the lymph nodes in the body. It is usually much lighter than other forms of massage, but is still very effective.

RELIEF WITH LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

The lymphatic system is a complex network of vessels and ducts that move fluid throughout the body and is responsible for moving toxins away from healthy cells and carrying germ-fighting materials to the cells when they are under attack by viruses. Though fluid moves through the lymphatic system, it does not have its own pumping mechanism. Lymphatic drainage is a type of therapy that is intended to help the body produce a free-flowing lymphatic system.

The lymphatic system is a subsystem of the circulatory system. Its principal functions are to:

  • Collect and return interstitial fluid and help maintain fluid balance within the body tissues and organs
  • Defend the body against disease by producing lymphocytes that fight infection

When the lymphatic system becomes blocked, lymphatic fluid builds up and stagnates causing a variety of symptoms including:

  • Chronic swelling of the limbs
  • Recurrent infections
  • Impaired organ function
  • Fatigue

Lymphatic drainage is used to promote a healthy lymphatic system.

The Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) technique was pioneered by Dr. Emil Vodder in the 1930s and is now practiced worldwide. Manual Lymphatic Drainage is an advanced massage therapy in which the therapist uses a range of specialised and gentle rhythmic pumping techniques to move the skin in the direction of the lymph flow. This stimulates the lymphatic vessels and nodes that carry substances vital to the defence of the body, and removes waste products.

  • Clears blockages in the lymphatic system
  • Assists the elimination of metabolic wastes and toxins from the body
  • Reduces excess fluid
  • Calms the nervous system and helps relieve stress and tension
  • Chronic swelling following injury or surgery
  • Fluid retention (puffy ankles, legs, eyes, bloating)
  • Constipation
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Migraine
  • Sinus infections
  • Acne
  • Anxiety and Tension
  • Recurrent infections (colds, flu, ear, chest)

In the first consultation, the therapist will outline the number and frequency of sessions required, which will depend on the severity and duration of the condition. Maintenance visits may be required for long-term benefits to be achieved. Each session lasts approximately one to one and a half hours.

NEUROSKELETAL THERAPY

Neuroskeletal Therapy is a relatively new technique that provides gentle non-manipulative skeletal alignment through the activation of neurological pathways. It’s non-manipulative and non-invasive nature means it is safe to use from birth to old age and due to its methodology and application, it can only improve function and mobility. Thousands of people now live a fully active and pain free lifestyle due to this innovative and effective technique.

NON-INVASIVE PAIN THERAPY

Neuroskeletal Therapy has its roots in American Osteopathic Medicine and is a much more advanced approach than forced manipulation. Pressure points that relate to your skeleton and joints are gently activated with your clothes on. This activation of particular reflex points all over the body results in the skeleton realigning itself.

The first treatment session takes about an hour and a half and incorporates the taking of your medical history and a full postural assessment.

Many kinds of back neck and joint problems are completely solved with this revolutionary new approach to balance and increase mobility and postural integration. The human body realigns itself with this type of treatment and it works with over 95% of patients with all kinds of back and neck pain. As 30% of all headaches arise from misaligned vertebrae in the neck, and pain medication doesn’t solve the problem, this kind of treatment can bring rapid relief to many different types of people, improving their concentration, work ethic, and general quality of life.

Neuroskeletal Therapy has been applied very successfully in the improvement and maintenance of patients with the following conditions, to name just a few:

  • Whiplash injuries
  • Arthritis, Sciatica, Scoliosis
  • Motor Vehicle Accidents
  • Sporting injuries
  • Lower Back Syndrome
  • Dowager’s Hump Kyphosis
  • Lordosis
  • Bad posture
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Nutritionally based defects
  • Subluxation
  • Short Leg Syndrome

Have you tried everything and nothing works? Then we can help you with the latest in back treatment, so book a consultation today to see if we can help ease your pain.

DRY NEEDLING

Do you have tight, knotted muscles at the end of a long working week? Stabbing, throbbing, or burning sensations are all too common these days but you don’t have to suffer the cycle of taking pain medication to mask the symptoms. All Body Care’s natural therapies, including Dry Needling, could be the long term solution you need.

FEEL BETTER NATURALLY

Dry needling is an invasive procedure whereby solid filament (acupuncture) needles are inserted into the skin and muscle directly at a myofascial trigger point. A myofascial trigger point (sometimes known as a knot) consists of multiple contraction knots, which are related to the production and maintenance of the pain cycle.

A spasmed muscle becomes a damaged muscle. Spasm reduces blood flow in the muscle. This means less oxygen and nutrients to the muscle. Muscle fibres die off and get replaced by fibrous scar tissue. This in turn holds the muscle tight, prevents muscle metabolites from leaving the muscle, and causes continued spasm and pain.

Yes, studies have shown that it is one of the safest forms of medical intervention known. It is far safer than using drugs. Only sterile disposable needles are used.

Dry needling can be used for a variety of musculoskeletal problems. Muscles are thought to be a primary contributing factor to the symptoms. Conditions which respond to dry needling include, but are not limited to:

  • Muscle Spasms
  • Headaches
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Golfer’s Elbow
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Sciatic Pain
  • Buttock Pain
  • Leg Pain
  • Hamstring Strains
  • Shin Splints
  • Hip Pain
  • Knee Pain
  • Repetitive Strain Injuries

When you’ve got back, neck, or other muscle pain, don’t reach for the pain killers, book a dry needing appointment and feel better naturally. And if you’re not a fan of needles, try our Trigger Point Therapy or Massage Services.
